A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF

Hello my name is James P. Chohonis and I am the Chief of Police. Welcome to the Village of Virginia Gardens. We have established this web site to provide information about our police department, special events, and policies that affect you as a resident of or visitor to our village.

I started my law enforcement career right here in the Village of Virginia Gardens in 1987 as an auxiliary officer, and have worked my way up the department’s ranks to my present position. The Village currently employs 20 officers, and we have recently reinstituted our reserve officers program, providing additional manpower through the volunteer efforts of 3 additional certified officers. Our entire department is committed to providing the residents of our community with the finest in service and protection.
